Roland, town hall and market square

The town hall and the patron saint Roland have been declared UNESCO world heritage sites and should not be missed while you are in Bremen. They represent the development of the Hanse (hanseatic league), where Bremen belonged to since 1358. The town hall was built in gothic style at the beginning of the 15th century and redecorated early 17th century in Weser-Renaissance style.

The Roland statue at the market place was built in 1404, presenting a guardian of hanseatic freedom and independence. Since 2004, both sites are UNESCO world heritage sites.
